本記事はEDUBAL夏祭り企画第2弾「英語学位プログラムや海外大学を完全解剖！現役生の語る大学生活のすべて」のイベントレポートです。１日目に開催された海外大学座談会にてご説明した内容についてレポートします。各大学の現役大学生による学生生活の話や、Q&Aセッションの様子も掲載します。

| The University of British Columbia (UBC) | |

| Why This University? | ・Two distinct campuses (Vancouver and Okanagan) to choose from. ・A diverse community with about 20-30% of international students in both campuses. ・Many degrees are available. |
| Personal Thoughts | ・You will build close relationships with peers and professors. ・You can focus on studying or participate in vibrant student organizations! ・The campuses are surrounded by safe and beautiful environments. |
| Q1) How did courses and extracurricular activities change due to COVID-19? | |
|---|---|
| UCSD | All classes and activities were held in-person before the pandemic, but they switched to online for this term…It allowed me to take two classes in the same time slot. As for club activities, I am in a female lacrosse club, and we hold practices and meetings in-person every week even now. |
| UBC | I enrolled in the university this year, so I have taken only online courses. In addition, the university did not allow student organizations to hold in-person events, so the activities were online. However, I heard that they will hold in-person classes from the coming term, so I am very excited! |
| Q2) How can I find scholarships? | |
| UCSD | I looked for a scholarship program using the Internet…and I won a scholarship offered by a private organization. There are several private and public organizations that offer scholarships with varying amounts, so you should search for a program that matches your need the best. |
| UBC | I got a scholarship from the university. They set several scholarship programs to support students with different features, such as academics, activities, and international involvements. You should check the university’s website to find a program that matches your strength. |

| Personal Thoughts | ・The university respects students’ opinions! (e.g. asks for evaluation after each class) ・The student body is diverse + professors have a variety of experiences. ・You can challenge yourself in a variety of academic fields. |
| University College London (UCL) | |

| Why This University? | ・UK’s only university focusing on Science, Engineering, Medicine and Businesses. ・Constantly ranking in the top 10 universities in the world. ・Over 380 student clubs, societies, and projects. |
| Personal Thoughts | ・You will find many sub-groups for STEM to specialize! ・You can get a bachelor in 3 years and a master in 4 years. ・The envionment is diverse. |
| Q1) What activities did you engage in your high-school, other than IB/ A-Level? | |

| UCL | I took IB, and I won an award for an international competition in Mathematics. |
| ICL | I took A-Level, and I was engaged in a research project on rockets. It sparked my interest in Engineering. |
| Q2) What should I pay attention to when writing a personal statement? | |
| UCL | My topic for the personal statement was my Extended Essay (an assessment offered in IB). It highlighted my knowledge and interst in the academic field. But still I spent a lot of time on it and rewrote again and again. |
| ICL | You need to establish a very strong connection between your major and activities outside study. For example, I wrote about the reseach project about rockets because it shows my passion beyond a regular curriculum. |

| Why This University? | ・You can get a bachelor in 3 years for most of degrees. ・Nostalgic and futuristic buildings in the campus. ・Ranked 4th in the academic career support ranking. |
| Personal Thoughts | ・There are many leadership opportunities: mentorship program, student representatives, and tutorial presentations! ・The university + student organizations offer many events to promote active community engagements. ・The time difference between Japan and Australia is only an hour→ easy to study in a remote-learning environment. |
| Q1) What is the proportion of online and in-person lectures? | |
|---|---|
| Sydney | All courses last year were online. That was one of my reasons to choose the university of Sydney… the time difference is small between two countries, so I can take online courses easily. |
| Q2) I have not figure out what I want to do the most…How should I choose universities? | |
| Sydney | One way that I used is to make a table with some factors that are important to you. Then give scores for each university, and give priority for those factors. |
